Children's Waiting Room
Kids Place, a children’s waiting room, provides a fun, safe, clean and caring environment for children while their parents or guardian transact business with the Court. Up to twenty young children, infant to 13 years of age, can be supervised within the facility. Kids Place is operated by employees and community volunteers (who undergo stringent evaluations and background checks), and are trained to interact positively with the children, making them feel welcome and safe.

Kids Place was developed by the “For the Child” organization, a 25 year-old Long Beach non-profit organization in collaboration with Los Angeles County Fourth District Supervisor, Don Knabe and the Los Angeles Superior Court. Kids Place opened on August 7, 2002. The Los Angeles County Children and Family First-Proposition 10 Committee provides the major funding.

Kids Place offers a supervised, child-focused play environment at no cost to its clients. Activities that the children may participate in include games, art projects, toys, reading, PlayStation, videos, computers and other supervised activities. Snacks are also served. In addition, resource assistance and referrals to services such as child care, medical care, shelter, parenting classes, legal aid and other areas are provided.

Admittance to Kids Place requires the caregiver to read and complete an Information and Agreement form. Each caregiver and child will receive matching bracelets upon admittance, and each child will be released only to the adult wearing the identical bracelet as the child.

Kids Place is located on the 1st Floor, Room 104. Hours are from 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
