Kids Place, a children’s waiting room, provides a fun, safe, clean and caring environment for children while their parents or guardian transact business with the Court. Up to twenty young children, infant to 13 years of age, can be supervised within the facility. Kids Place is operated by employees and community volunteers (who undergo stringent evaluations and background checks), and are trained to interact positively with the children, making them feel welcome and safe.
Kids Place was developed by the “For the Child” organization, a 25 year-old Long Beach non-profit organization in collaboration with Los Angeles County Fourth District Supervisor, Don Knabe and the Los Angeles Superior Court. Kids Place opened on August 7, 2002. The Los Angeles County Children and Family First-Proposition 10 Committee provides the major funding.
